How to change the address on an Aadhaar card: Online
Only those individuals whose mobile numbers are registered with UIDAI will be able to do it. Here is a step-by-step guide to updating your address online:
Step 1: Visit the official website, Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal, ssup.uidai.gov.in.
Step 2: After visiting the website, tap the ‘Proceed to update Address’ option to update the address.

Step 3: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, or you can even enter your 28-digit Enrolment ID (EID) as mentioned on the acknowledgment slip or 16 Digit Virtual ID (VID).

Step 4: Next enter that captcha code and tap ‘Send OTP’ or enter ‘TOTP’.

Step 5: A six-digit OTP will be sent to your mobile number.
Step 6: Enter the OTP and log in.
Step 7: On the next page, if you have the valid documents, then you can update the address by clicking on the Update Address via Address Proof’ tab.
Step 9: On the new page you need to enter the details, upload a valid supporting document, Submit, and follow the instructions given on the screen.
In case, if you do not have address proof then also you update your address online with the option of an address validation letter.
You can also update the address on your Aadhaar card by visiting the Aadhaar enrolment center.
How to change the address on the Aadhaar card: Offline
You can update the address on your Aadhar card Offline also, for that, you just have to visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center and carry valid and original documents for updation at these centers.
Original documents will be scanned and handed back to you after updation. You can visit any of the permanent enrolment centers for updation.
Aadhar Card Address Change via Post
There are provisions to visit the nearest post office to make an Aadhar card address change. The user must visit the nearest post office and request the available agent for the same. Applicants will be required to fill out a request form which can be downloaded from the official website. Moreover, post offices also have the provision to help out the customer with the form. Once the application is submitted, they will be required to make a payment as applicable. Furthermore, users can review the status of their application by visiting the official website of UIDAI.

- Get registered by entering your mobile number and aadhaar number
- Next, you will have to authenticate your identity through OTP verification.
- After verification, go to the dashboard and navigate to the demographic update section.
- Make your required changes under the address tab.
- You will be required to upload scanned copies of your address proof. This could be an electricity bill, a letter attested by any gazetted government official, etc.
- After you make your necessary changes, proceed to make payment from the provided gateway.
- Once you send the application, the officials will review the same and you will receive the confirmation as and when the update is verified.
